Gnats, What are the gnats in your experience?








Today is the Season of Change we are asked to look at the gnats in our experience. The little things we say about ourselves over and over again without thinking. The thought that run through our minds that say things like I can't do that I am not smart enough. I can't hang out with them they are so much more intelligent that I am. We are the ones that create self doubt, and self criticism in our lives and when others come along and activate it we then place all the anger, and judgement on them. When we monitor and reprogram, or replace the old habit with a new one that serves us we find that our lives begin to change in ways that we could have only dreamed of up until then. By clearing out the gnats of self doubt we are freeing ourselves to live a more joyous life.  

Day 72: Gnats, What are the gnats in your experience? The little things that add up to greater problems? What are the small steps you can take to clear the gnats from your life?

I really love todays post in "Seasons of Change" on gnats. I can't tell you the number of times I have wanted something to change, and then resisted the next step toward that goal by thinking it was too small. I am not sure where I learned that change required a great shift when in fact it is small shifts repeated over time that add up to the change desired.

It is like New Years Eve when we are making all of these amazing resolutions about how we are going to have a different life than the year before. One of the things we do in the Amor Spiritual Center is we make a commitment 90 days before the new year of one thing we wish to change in our lives. Over the next 90 days we follow through with our commitment and we arrive in the new year with one of our goals met. The completion rate is unbelievable and it really integrates the new pattern of learning within the community.

It takes the human mind 21 days of consistently doing the same thing to create a habit. 40 days of consistent behavior create a new way of living within our consciousness. 90 days allow us to transform our lives from what they were, to what we wish them to be. Nature does it over and over again and we are part of the same creative process, and hold within us the same creative power.

We often think that self doubt, self criticism, and self hatred shows up over night. When in fact it is a habit that we have created over time, which then become our self consciousness, and then out pictures as our lives. When we become aware of this understanding and how it works we can begin to work with it, rather than against it creating the lives we want to live. Take a 3 hours period of your day and monitor what you think and say about yourself. This is the self discovery stage. I find it works best if I write it down. I remember the first time I did this I must have said the word "stupid" about 3 dozen times. That was stupid, what were you thinking? That was a brilliant idea, with a very sarcastic tone. There were times I would find myself saying the word stupid repeatedly.

After 3 hours, I thought about what I wanted to create in my consciousness about myself. Over the next 21days I would say the work STOP every time I thought something negative about myself. In its place, I would say my new mantra "I am intelligent, creative, and brilliant in all that I do." Within 21 days, I notice a lot less gnats of self doubt, and self hatred in my life. I continue to use this process in my everyday life to release any gnats of self doubt.

Creating the life you want starts NOW! Spend the next 3 hours becoming aware of the gnats that are swarming in your thoughts.
