Day 74: Blackberries, Today our focus is on how much work or investment we are willing to put into our lives. Where will you put your focus? Where will you put your energy?
It is really easy to put our focus outside of ourselves and miss one of the greatest lessons on transformation from nature. In todays reading we look a bit deeper into the process that nature uses to transform over time. Nature chooses where to focus or put its energy. In the case of the blackberry, in the winter months it grows a deeper root system. Try digging one up and you will find just how well rooted it is. When spring arrives it begins sending out shoots which when the shoot connects with the soil send out roots to create a giant network system. Once the network is built and they bathe in the sun the blackberry focuses it energy on creating blooms which in turn forms the berries that we all love so much.
I love how nature is not concerned with who lives next door, what they are doing, if they are taller, bigger, or greener, nature just goes within and does what is best for the whole. That is a lesson we as human nature could really learn from.
In my personal life when I notice that I am having judgement, criticism, or I find myself competing with others that is a sure sign that I am focused outside myself. It is really easy to think this is the norm with all that we hear about on social media. When in fact this is a very clever tactic that our ego uses to keep us from focusing on our internal work so that we play small and inadequate. When we separate ourselves from the creative whole and build the belief that it is us against them we choose to limit our growth, and we unplug from the very thing that is here to support us in becoming who we are destined to become.
When we like nature anchor ourselves firmly in the fertile soil of love, go within do our work and release the areas with which we have attachments. Open our hearts and allow ourselves to blossom, the fruit we harvest is indeed worth the investment, and the risk. All of this because we focused our energy on being the best version of ourselves.
Where are you going to focus your energy?
I love you,
Rev Allen
