Creating a new habit takes 21 days of consistently performing the new behavior for it to become a habit. In order to anchor this new habit in our consciousness, it must be consistently performed for 40 consecutive days. Within 90 days of doing a new behavior we are well on the path to transforming our lives and the way we see the world. That is the premise behind Seasons of Change. Nature consistently performs the same behavior over and over again until it arrives at a new season. We have within us that same transformation power when we choose to embrace it. It is easy to build a new habit and easy not to build a new habit. The secret to transformation is consistency. What new behavior are you willing to take on for the next 21 days? Try it out, you will be amazed.
Day 78: Contemplate a pattern of behavior that you have created along the Seasons of Change journey. What did you do that was successful in the building of this pattern? What did you learn along the way?
I have created several new habits over my journey with Seasons of Change.
(Mind)
I created a daily gratitude list. What did I do? I set the intention to write a gratitude list everyday, and to list at least 3 things that I love about myself each day and the first 90 days it was my goal not to repeat any entries on the list. What did I learn? I learned to love myself more deeply. I learned that creating a new habit is easy to do and easy not to do. I learned that creating change is a daily activity. I learned that when I do this work within 21 days that my thougths about who I am is much more loving.
(Body)
I have created a new eating habit that has allowed me to release 70 pounds of excess weight. What did I do? I set a goal of 2000 calories per day and I logged everything I eat before or right after eating. That keep my awareness of what I am taking in, and the commitment to loving myself by a healthy eating habit. What did I learn along the way? That food has been a place of comfort and hiding out. That is was easier to eat my emotions than be with them and allow them to pass.
(Soul)
I created time each day for contemplation and meditation. What did I do? I set an alarm on my phone to go off at 10:00 am as a reminder to stop, clear my mind and go within. What did I learn? Setting an intention and building in a time to do it is very helpful. I learned that all the answers that I seek are within. I learned that this one habit is transforming how I see myself and the world around me.
What new habit will you begin today?
I love you,
Rev Allen
